FOODS TO AVOID AFTER YOUR WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY

Before you make a decision to have the weight loss surgery, you definitely will know you will have to change your dietary habits after it. The most important for the post-bariatric surgery diet is to provide you appropriate nutritional balance and at the same time to lose weight.

Here we give you some tips which foods you should avoid in your post-surgery diet.

  1. EMPTY CALORIES. Pastries, chips, candies, popcorn, pretzels, rice cakes, popcorn and stuff like that. These foods have little or no nutritional value and the purpose of the diet is to consume vitamin and mineral rich products.
  2. HIGH-FAT FOODS. Having too much fatty foods on your diet can make you feel sick and may result in dumping syndrome, and will definitely slow down your weight loss success. Choose lean meats, low-fat milk products, avoid products as peanut butter and similar.
  3. DRY FOODS. At least during your post-op diet period. As you can not drink with your meal, dry foods like nuts, dry meat, bread, dry rice may be hard to swallow.
  4. SUGARY & FIZZY DRINKS. Drinking fizzy sugary sodas and fruit juices can lead to dumping syndrome and will not help you to achieve your weight-loss goals. Choose water, tea instead.
  5. FIBROUS VEGETABLES like asparagus, celery, corn, cabbage, broccoli may be hard to digest. Try them again later after you are fully back to the solid food.

Remember to always listen to your body!
